The Lab is a family of young adults on mission.

We are about encouraging experimental forms of church and mission in and around Newport, South Wales.

We do this by:

  • Growing new forms of church with those who have little or no church background.
  • Serving local communities, particularly working with young people and in areas of deprivation.
  • Developing young leaders who will lead the Church into the future.

The Lab is made up of several different hubs, each with their own focus and identity grounded in loving and serving those outside of the church.  Each community is committed to being God’s hands and feet in a particular locality or cultural grouping, developing initiatives which help to meet the needs of the wider community and growing new expressions of church which re-imagine spirituality and worship for their context.

We will be visiting the newest Lab hub in Maesglas.  The team form a new monastic community, the Community of St Thomas, whose members will live as modern-day friars focused on prayer, study and serving local communities.
